I have litigated hundreds of fire and explosion cases and collected millions of dollars on behalf of my clients, including a $21 million dollar settlement for the children of a couple who were killed in a propane gas explosion. I have collected millions of dollars on behalf of my clients in propane and natural gas explosions, and millions more in property damage cases against insurance companies. I am a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) through the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI). I am a principal member of the National Fire Protection Association Technical Committee on Fire Investigations, responsible for NFPA 921, as well as a principal member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Fire Investigator Professional Qualifications responsible for NFPA 1033. In October 2012, NAFI presented me with its "Distinguished Service Award." the first attorney in the more than 50-year history of NAFI to receive this award. I have been selected as a Michigan "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics Magazine every year since 2006, as a “Top Lawyer” in dbusiness Magazine, as a “Best Lawyers in America” in both the Insurance Law and Personal Injury Litigation ‐ Plaintiffs categories, and was elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates. I was named a 2013 “Leader in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, . I earned a B.A. from Michigan State University in 1982 and a J.D. from the Michigan State University College of Law in 1985. I am s a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Association for Justice Executive Committee and Executive Board and the American Association for Justice (Fire and Property Insurance Litigation Group).
